The organisation is a reporting unit for the purposes of financial reporting. The governance of the organisation is vested in the Executive Committee, which comprises the office bearers and representatives who are elected by the members of the organisation.
Elections for offices within the organisation are conducted every 2 years.
Although the organisation conducts its elections through the Australian Electoral Commission, it does have an exemption from the postal ballot provisions under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009.
