Popular tools for 2020

2020 has been an exceptional year and, here at the Registered Organisations Commission (ROC), we’ve listened closely to you to make sure we’re providing all the resources we can to help you comply during these difficult times. To end the year, we would like to share with you some of the materials that your fellow organisations are downloading regularly from our resources.

If you’d like to have a say on our resources and education strategy – keep your eye out for our Annual Education Survey in the beginning of 2021.

During 2020 the ROC continued to release episodes of its podcast on the last Friday of the month. This month’s podcast is already online so you have time to listen to it before the Christmas break! It was another in our Good Governance in Practice series which has included hands on hints and tips about:

webinarOur Panels

2020 saw the ROC kick off an online Q&A panel series to help us stay in touch with organisations while we couldn’t hold face-to-face events. The panels were highly successful and often included a practical hypothetical scenario to explain how to apply the requirements in practice. They can be downloaded at any time and cover topics including:

"I like the format you are using for the online events and I always find them helpful and reassuring. I also find the regularity of them good too."

Our next panel will be in January on the topic of Annual Returns. Subscribe for invitations and updates.

documentPopular templates

The ROC produces templates to help organisations comply with their regulatory requirements. Templates are available through the ROC’s Tools and resources pages or the ROC Flower. In 2020, our popular templates included:

  • Model financial statements (DOCX 370.3KB)
Model financial statements help organisations structure their general purpose financial report in accordance with the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 and the Australian Accounting Standards.

The ROC Compliance Calculator remains one of our more popular tools. It provides a way for organisations and their branches to check their specific individual compliance deadlines for requirements including elections, notifications of change, officer disclosures and financial reporting. The calculator asks you some easy questions and then provides windows of time when optimal compliance can be achieved.

The calculator was accessed more than two-and-a-half times for every single working day of 2020!
