ROC has approved the ACTU’s online governance training package
The Registered Organisations Commission recognises that the COVID-19 pandemic may present challenges for registered organisations, including the ability for officers with financial duties to attend approved face-to-face financial training within six months of taking office, as required by the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (the RO Act).
The ROC has received a number of enquiries about financial governance training and the barriers that organisations are facing in arranging that training for officers.
The ROC has been working with the ACTU towards its development of an online governance training package and last Friday we received the course and made it our urgent priority to review it. On the same day, the ROC approved the online training package, to be delivered by the ACTU, to assist organisations who can no longer access face-to-face training as a result of limitations on gatherings and travel restrictions imposed by the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic. More details are available here.
The ROC understands that COVID-19 is an extraordinary global event which calls on both regulators and organisations to do their best in the circumstances they face. The ROC will continue to provide assistance and advice during this period. If you have any questions about accessing governance training or would like to discuss your individual circumstances please email the ROC at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 1300 341 665 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, AEST.
